Pilgrims panic as SUV goes up in flames near GNC tollgate at Andhra Pradesh’s Tirumala; no injuries | Amaravati News

TIRUPATI: Devotees on a pilgrimage to Tirumala after an SUV from Karnataka suddenly went up in flames and was completely destroyed near the GNC tollgate on Sunday.According to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) authorities, a devotee named Sudarshan from Mulbagal in Karnataka was travelling to Tirumala in his SUV on Sunday afternoon. Just after the vehicle crossed the GNC tollgate, flames erupted from the bonnet, forcing the occupants to quickly abandon the vehicle and run for safety.TTD vigilance and security personnel stationed near the tollgate rushed to the scene with fire extinguishers and attempted to control the blaze but were unsuccessful.Shortly afterwards, fire tenders arrived and managed to bring the flames under control. TTD authorities expressed relief as no injuries were reported in the incident.
