Parliament security breach: HC grants bail to 2 accused; bars them from giving interviews, posting on social media about case

NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Wednesday approved bail for the accused, Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat, who were charged in connection with the security breach incident at Parliament that occurred on December 13, 2023. Both were among those accused of compromising the security measures at the legislative building.The security breach at the old Parliament building took place last year on December 13, coinciding with the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack. The four main executors – who had set off smoke canisters inside and outside Parliament – were held from the spot while two others surrendered to police a day later.The Delhi High Court bench, comprising Justices Subramonium Prasad and Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar, approved bail for Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat. The bail was set at Rs 50,000 each, along with two sureties of equal value.The court imposed specific conditions, prohibiting the accused from speaking to media organisations or posting about the incident on social media platforms.The bail approval came after the accused filed an appeal against the lower court’s decision that had previously denied their bail application.This is a developing story…
